Description
Type A Silica Gel is a desiccant and used to dry and maintain the humidity of a contained area. The term Non-Indicating means this type of silica gel does not change color when it needs to be changed.Non-indicating Silica Gel beads are manufactured by using sodium silicate to create a porous form of silicon dioxide (SiO2). It consists of 97% silica and 3% alumina with a highly porous surface and a lust for absorbing water.
White Silica Gel is the type of desiccant you find in small packets when you buy a pair of shoes. While used to reduce moisture in packages when stored, our Silica Gel desiccant is typically used to dry compressed air and gas. Dew points of -40°F can be achieved with Silica Gel beads when using a compressed air dryer or gas dryer. Silica Gel can also be used as a catalyst carrier, separator, variable-pressure adsorbents, and other purposes.
Since silica gel fractures in the presence of liquid water, it is typically protected by a 10% to 15% (by weight) layer of Activated Alumina desiccant as a water buffer on the inlet side of the desiccant bed.
- High moisture retention allowing for more efficient desiccant dryer operation.
- Uniform bead shape allows for lower pressure drop and less abrasion.
